Another possible Janette Oke film adaptation!!!!!

Okay, so this one is not at all confirmed like the previous Janette Oke movies I have posted about. When Calls the heart and the Love Comes Softly prequels; Love Begins and Love's Resounding Courage are definitely is some type of production state. However I stumbled across this today and I am so excited because this novel is my favourite non-Austen book....*drumroll* the book I am talking about is A GOWN OF SPANISH LACE!

I am so excited I want to scream right now! Becasuse after further research I have found that it is listed on both Michael Landon JR's and Brian Birds (screenwriter and producer) websites as a project in development *girlish screaming occuring right now*. To celebrate the possible film adaptation of this book, I will be posting the book review very shortly.

Much love from a very excited blogger,

Mel xx

ps. I hope someone understands this rant! I just love this book and the characters!

You know, ever since I read that book, I thought 'someone REALLY needs to make a movie out of this'. Although I confess I am not pleased with Michael Landon Jr's stuff; they're not enough like the book - and I really want the movie to be like the book!!! ;-)

Go, Ariana!
(P.S. I LOVE historical stories about teachers.)

Oh Mel, this is wonderful news! A Gown of Spanish Lace is my absolute favorite Janette Oke book!!!
I love Ariana and Laramie and their interesting friendship and the whole mystery! I remember reading it for the first time and being so captivated by the characters and the story and wondering what was going to happen next! I was totally surprised by the ending! It's one of the few books that I have re-read several times (Jane Austen & Lori Wick's The Princess are my other re-read books)! If fact, I should read it again soon! I only worry that they won't do justice to the story and will shorten it and leak the mystery too early. But this film version could be so intriguing and a real adventure story! This news is SO exciting!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!

I am so glad that you both loved the book too. I too am a little worried that the film adaptation (if it goes ahead) will be very different from the novel. Especially given what happened with the Love Comes Softly films however I think the storyline is so perfect for film (thinking on it its actually quite like Lorna Doone) so hopefully they wont feel the need to change too many things or give away certain information too quickly.

Miss Laurie, when I first read it I was so captivated too. I remember it was a school night and I could not go to sleep until I finished it- needless to say I didn't function at all the next day but it was worth it! I love Ariana and Laramie is such a great hero!
