My Love; Mr Thornton

This is the first post in my series “My love;”
Mr Thornton is the lead male character in Elizabeth Gaskell’s novel ‘North and South’. I fell in love with Mr Thornton when I watched the BBC adaptation of the novel, where he is portrayed by the oh-so-handsome Richard Armitage *heart fluttering*. Mr Thornton (Richard Armitage), along with Mr Tilney (portrayed by JJ Feild), Willie Lahaye (portrayed by Logan Bartholomew) and Tristan of Aragon (James Franco), is one of those characters who I, unfortunately find myself comparing any man I meet with, of which none actually ever measure up. Oh the sufferings of us girls who live within the pages of our books.
Well, to compensate for being 21 and still waiting for my perfect man, and for anyone else who is waiting for God to send them their prince charming... here is a little Mr Thornton to tide us all over until then :)

'I don't want to possess you! I wish to marry you because I love you!'

'You don't need Henry to explain'

'Look back at me'

'I found it in the hedge row. You have to look hard'

Dear Mr. Thornton! I really do like him a lot! Actor Richard Armitage did a great job with the character and he's very easy on the eyes!
Have you ever read the book? I love the ending in that, it's different with a little more dialog than in the film. I made myself read the book before ever watching the miniseries and I fell in love with both! :)

Miss Laurie,

It is funny you should ask if I have read the book. I have been unable to get a copy but a couple of days ago my beautiful mother brought me home one! I started reading it only yesterday :) I am intrigued by your comment about the ending, ohhh I must hurry up and get to the end quick!!!!

God Bless
Mel

Mr. Thornton beats Mr. Darcy HANDS DOWN! - he's my newest favorite hero. <3 In fact, I just put a post up about him recently.

I absolutely agree with you Micheala! I'm not exactly a Darcy fan. I like him but I don't think that he is the be-all and end-all of literary heros!
I think I am already a follower of your lovely blog but I must head over there now and check out your Mr Thornton post :)
