I now have a Tumblr page (?)

Yesterday I did something bold...I created it a Tumblr page! I know crazy right! (Especially when I was so convinced I would never have one!) Well it wasn't a spur of the moment thing I have actually been thinking about it for the past month or so and finally came to a decision yesterday. Despite having no idea how it all works! But it has been a lot of fun designing and developing my page, and I think the next few weeks are going to be quite exciting working it all out.
Anyway the point of this post was to let all my followers know that I have created this page mainly so I can post my fan art pieces and post other random pictures I find on that Tumblr page rather than clogging up this blog. So if you start to wonder where the fan art has gone- well its there :)

If you are interested you are welcome to check it out if you like. There is not much on it now, I am still finding out how things work. Oh, and I decided to use a separate title to this blog choosing the title from one of my favourite poems, "The Good Morrow" by John Donne

Love
Mel xx

ps. It also means I can post Henry Tilney pictures, Robin Hood Screencaps and Harry Lloyd pictures to my hearts content without annoying all of you :)

A quick update and it's spring!

Goodness me I have been so slack on the posts lately, so I am going to give you all a quick update on what has been going on:

Firstly its Spring here in Australia! and although today isn't all that glorious the past 3 or 4 days have been beautiful- Even the flowers have begun to bloom. Also, I have just hit mid-semester so things at Uni are crazy to say the least but...something I neglected to tell you was that I was able to pick up a poetry subject this semester! For those of you who know I am studying science at university you will understand my joy and surprise at being allowed to do this subject. Last week I finished my first assignment for the class, which was to read a poem (from a given list) out to the class and discuss it. I am terrified of class presentations so I was extremely stressed, but my recitation of John Keats' "La Belle Dame Sans Merci" went without a hiccup- so to speak :)
Anyway that's enough about my life, I don't want to bore you to tears...

So in other news Miss Elizabeth over at Elegance of Fashion is hosting "Period Drama Week". This kicks off very shortly which is very exciting. I will be trying my hardest to post up my answers to the tag questions during this special week.
Also this week I hope to post some more about some upcoming films, some news about Harry Lloyd and also about The Liebster Award which I was awarded by several lovely people during the past week.

And just I to leave you with something that makes me smile, I recently learnt the art of - How to make a GIF image, so here is my first attempt. (Elizabeth this one's for you!)

Much Love,

Mel

And so I tripped and BROKE my laptop...

Well in the time it takes to say "Hello Henry Tilney", my dog jumped from my arms- sent me off balance and crashing into my laptop on the floor *cries*! So my poor laptop, at present, is well...dead. Although I am still hoping to fix it, is it going to take a while. So I spent the larger part of the past few days in tears (or on the verge of) because as you know without a laptop it is the end of the world- yes I tend to over dramatize sometimes. Anyway I am smiling much more today as I was blessed with a new desktop computer, so things are going to be just fine (and now I can post and comment again).

I would just ask that you all would be patient with me for now, as I am in the process of recovering my work. Unfortunately I admit I am working on getting the majority of my uni work up-to-date, before catching up on the lost blog posts but I hope to have Part 2 of The Book Bash Tag up, hopefully today or early tomorrow.

Love,

Mel xx

Shaken- Hawk Nelson

Another random post :) This is not normally the kind of thing I would post but I am so in love with this song at the moment so I wanted to share it with you :) I hope you don't mind. It is by a favourite band of mine Hawk Nelson, who are a Christian rock band, however I love their slower songs and I have been particularly moved by this one lately, which is called Shaken.

I think that the song lyrics and accompaning video clip is so powerful!

Here are a few of the lyrics:

Open my eyes, and help me see
that there's a world outside of me
I'm no different, I want to make a difference tonight

The words don't always come out right
And I don't normally cry
But you didn't see the look in her eyes

I've been shaken
From my head, on down to my toes
Lord use me, take me where you want me to go
I can't help it, my heart has been replaced with a face
I'm ready, these hands are dedicated to change

The video is really very moving and I encourage you to check it out, you can view it on YouTube here

Love Mel xx

ps. You may remember the post I did a little while ago about the Australian band New Empire who I love, well a little bit of news is.... They are hitting the stage with none other than Owl City when they tour over here in Australia in August. How awesome is that!!!

Distracted by Jane

So how many marks do you think the person marking my chemistry exam would give me if instead of answering the questions asked, I wrote an essay titled "How much I love Henry Tilney" or "My favourite Jane Austen novel: Northanger Abbey"?

You see I have an exam coming up in the next week and today I tried to study...well that is to say, I usually don't mind studying at all but for some reason I found myself daydreaming about the world of Jane Austen and in particular that of Catherine Morland. And in the time it takes to pick up a book and say "Goodbye study, Hello Tilney" I had assumed the role of Catherine and was walking the halls of Northanger Abbey without any hope of returning to reality in the near future.

Surely I cannot be the only one who gets distracted by the world and characters of Jane Austen at the most inopportune times?

Love as always :)

A few changes again,

After a long hard day sitting in front of a computer screen I have finally been able to complete more of the changes that I had hoped to do a few weeks ago, So as you have most likely already noticed I have a new layout and fonts, and all those type of wonderful things. I think it looks better than before and hopefully it looks neater and is easier too. I also had the time to create the new banner/blog title picture thing (using my favourite couple Henry & Catherine from Northanger Abbey) something I have been wanting to do for a while now. I still have some work to do on the gadget side of things I am quite happy with the result right now.

Thank you to all the readers of this blog for being so patient with me while I get used to the whole blogging world and how it works!

Much Love,

Bits and bobs and blog buttons

You may have noticed over the past week or so I have made some minor changes to my blog, just because I am finally starting to get the hang of how things in the blog world work. My first post was on the 12th of March so I haven't been on here long, but I think I'm doing okay...I hope :)
Okay so just to list the changes:

Comment box- It now opens up in on a separate window in a smaller view.

Reactions- I finally worked out how to put those lovely little reaction boxes at the end of the post. I think that I have titled them "your thoughts". I particularly wanted these because its a great anonymous way to give feedback. Also because things get so busy, sometimes you may read a post but not have enough time to comment so these allow you to leave feedback with one click :)

Pages- I have also added a new page (pages are the tabs under the banner) for the "to be a heroine" series. Considering that I plan to have many lessons in this series I thought that it might proved easier if the links could all be found on the one page :)

Blog Buttons - I finally have a blog button! YAY. It took me the better part of today to set it up and get it working. As you can probably tell I am not that much of a computer person :)
For those of you who would like to link to my blog I have created 3 versions below. I know that sometimes particular buttons may not go with the theme/colour scheme or your own blog so by creating some different ones I hope that you will find one that you like :)
Also I have started adding blog buttons from some of my favourite blogs on the column to the right, If you have one but I haven't added it let me know, I would love to add it :)

Blog Button #1- Northanger Abbey; Catherine & Henry

Blog Button #2- Robin Hood BBC; Lady Marian

Blog Button # 3- Lorna Doone; Lorna & John

A random post about an awesome band

Okay so I am going to take a little side-step from the usual period drama/Jane Austen things I post and tell you about a most awesome band that I am loving at the moment.

The band is called New Empire and they are from Sydney, Australia.  The band consists of three members at present; Jeremy Fowler, Pete Gillies and Kale Kneale all of which are commited christians and this is reflected in the lyrics of their songs.
New Empire has already achieved some great things, their first album Come With Me Tonight was released in 2008 and their second due is out in August this year (2011). If the single Here In Your Eyes which they released earlier this year in March from their new album is anything to go by this next album is going to be awesome!
Oh and not to mention they were an opening headliner in 2009 for Relient K!

I have seen this band live twice now, and they are so inspiring and uplifting and although my all-time favourite band is The Fray (and that won't be changing anytime soon) New Empire is definitely becoming a fast favourite of mine!

You can check out their websites here: Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, YouTube  and you can buy their songs from iTunes.

Although I love many of their songs (including Hero, Summer Sky & Take Me Back)My favourite song of theirs at the moment its called Here In Your Eyes.
I encourage you to check out this song and video on YouTube here
Have you heard of New Empire before? What are your favourite bands?
